Some tips on how to best spend the holidays living the sea on the island of San Pietro.

The sea is the real resource of the island, so if you have decided to spend your holidays in Carloforte surely you love the sea and maybe water sports too.

In summer the weather conditions on the island are pretty good although it is not uncommon to blow a wind of mistral or sirocco even up to 30 knots.

For beach lovers the wind is not a problem as there is always a part of the island "downwind". We advise you to obtain a map of the island. The basic rule is this: if the wind blows from the northwest you should go on the the southeast coast and beaches, otherwise if the wind is blowing from south-east, then choose the sheltered north-west coast.

Sports fans will take advantage of the days of strong wind. We remind you that on the island there are several marina which offer a safe berth for your boat and sailing clubs where you can rent small sailing boats or attend a sailing course for beginners or experts.

On days with little wind we advise you to rent a boat with or without skipper to go around the island in order to reach and to visit that part of the coast otherwise inaccessible.
